Our Staff

​​Pastor Philip Kim and his wife Esther moved to Riverside in 2022 to serve as the head pastor of RMBC. While attending UC Davis during his undergraduate years, Pastor Philip joined Berkland Baptist Church (from which RMBC was started) where he committed his life to Christ and college ministry with a passion to serve the Lord. Whether preaching on Sundays, teaching Bible studies, smoking ribs, or playing bass guitar, his heart for God and his love for people are both unmistakable and contagious. Esther is an alum of UC Berkeley and works full-time as a Senior Director in Analyst Relations. She is also a passionate Dodgers fan, Bible teacher and prayer warrior. Together, they have spent the past 25 years ministering to youth and college students, and also as missionaries to Alaska. They have two children Elizabeth and Matthew.

​Having grown up in Southern California, Pastor Roy met the Lord while at Caltech where he and his wife Vania were both college students. After receiving a physics PhD from UC Irvine, Pastor Roy joined the Boston branch of Berkland Baptist Church. Pastor Roy and his wife Vania have served faithfully in college and young adult ministry for over 20 years. In obedience to God’s call, they have served in the foreign mission field in Myanmar as well as in Boston, Irvine, Long Beach, and now Riverside. Pastor Roy is always up for discussions about the Bible, sports, physics, or good food, as well as playing ball. Pastor Roy and Vania currently lead the Grad & Young Adult ministry. They have two sons Asaph and Ian.
